Speed season start in Lake Louise
The speed season had as usual its start in Lake Louise, Canada, with good winter conditions. Max Franz (AUT) took the Downhill, while Kjetil Jansrud (NOR) like last year took the victory in Super-G. (Photo Scanpix)
The attacking Vikings could not copy earlier success in Saturday's Downhill with Aksel Lund Svindal on place eight, 0.80 second behind the winner Max Franz. Also Kjetil Jansrud (number 13), Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (number 15) and Adrian Smiseth Seiersted (number 25) could pick some WC points. Max Franz was accompanied by two Italians, Christof Innerhofer and Dominik Paris on the podium.
However, the Super-G in Lake Lousie seems to be the property of the Norwegian team since 2010. Like last year, the 2018 number one Super-G athlete Kjetil Jansrud, did a very good race to top the podium, with Svindal (number 5), Seiersted (number 8) and Kilde (number 12) to complete the team result. Jansrud was followed by Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT) 0.14 second and Mauro Caviezel (SUI) 0.21 second behind.
